Free Wills Month campaigns bring together well respected nonprofit organizations (NPOs) to offer members of the public aged 55 and over the opportunity to have their Will written or updated free of charge by using participating attorneys in specific locations.

Why do the NPOs run the program?

The NPOs promote the program because they all depend on gifts in Wills for a substantial part of their funding. Owing to the prestige and popularity of the NPOs, an impressive majority of people choose to leave a gift to one or more of them - though there's no requirement to do so. This source of future funding is very valuable to the organizations concerned.

How does the program work?

During Free Wills Month, newspaper advertisements will make the public aware of the program in the towns and cities where it's running. People will be able to call participating attorneys to have a simple Will written. The NPOs will pay for these Wills.

When will Free Wills Month run?

We plan to run the first program in New York State in the spring of 2012. The participating NPOs will decide in which towns and cities to run the program.
